Multidirectional and Sideloader Forklift Truck Operator Training: M1, M2, C1, C2, C3
At 1st Advanced Training, we deliver professional Multidirectional Sideloader, Multidirectional Counterbalance and standard Sideloader Forklift Truck operator training courses: M1, M2, C1, C2, and C3. Whether you’re training new operators or refreshing existing skills, our expert instructors provide high quality, hands-on training that builds confidence, improves workplace safety, and enhances operational efficiency.
Sideloaders are specialist forklift trucks that lift their load sideways, such that the load is carried to the operators’ side, rather than in front of them as with Counterbalance Forklift Trucks. While standard Sideloaders travel forwards and backwards, Multidirectional Sideloaders provide exceptional manoeuvrability, with the ability to travel sideways and to seamlessly crab diagonally.
Multidirectional Counterbalance Forklift Trucks operate in the same way as conventional counterbalance machines, with forks positioned in front of the operator. They combine familiar operation with the exceptional manoeuvrability of Multidirectional Sideloaders, enabling precise and safe handling of loads in narrow aisles and around complex obstacles.
At Budget Forktrucks, we deliver professional Counterbalance Forklift Truck operator training courses: B1, B2, and B3. Whether you're training new operators or refreshing existing skills, our expert instructors provide high quality, hands-on training that builds confidence, improves workplace safety, and enhances operational efficiency.
The Counterbalance is the most popular type of forklift truck, often considered the backbone of material handling operations. Available with four wheels to maximise weight carrying ability and with three wheels for increased manoeuvrability in tight spaces, they can lift loads of 1,200 kgs to 16,000 kgs up to heights of 8 metres. Our training focuses on safe operation: load balancing, manoeuvring in tight spaces, loading and unloading, stacking and de-stacking and moving loads.
Choose Budget for trusted, industry-leading forklift training that supports safer workplaces, increased operational productivity, and reduced operational risk.

AITT Accredited and In-house Certified Training
1st Advanced Training proudly offers two ranges of comprehensive operator training courses, designed to equip your workforce with the technical knowledge and practical skills required to operate safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with UK health and safety requirements.
AITT accredited training is delivered in accordance with recognised national standards and is subject to external oversight and regulated quality assurance protocols administered by the Association of Industrial Truck Trainers (AITT). This provides greater assurance to organisations that operators have been assessed in accordance with accepted industry requirements. Successful candidates receive an AITT accredited operator certificate and photo ID card, recorded on a centralised database making them easily transferable between employers within the UK.
In-house certified training follows comprehensive content defined in the Health and Safety Executive’s Approved Code of Practice (ACOP) L117. This provides greater flexibility to tailor courses to site-specific equipment, operating environments, and workplace procedures. As external verification and course durations are not mandated, courses can be delivered more cost-effectively. Final assessment is equally rigorous, but the certificates rest with the organisation – and not the operator.
Unify AITT and In-house training across your organisation. With 1st Advanced Training, you can choose to specify AITT accredited novice training courses for employees with no prior experience – and then specify in-house certified training for refresher training courses after 3 years of experience.
Choosing between the ranges depends on your organisation’s specific requirements and priorities. Our team of expert instructors are fully certified by both the AITT and the Road Transport Industry Training Board (RTITB).

Training at Your Premises or Our Training Centre
1st Advanced Training recommends delivering forklift truck operator training on-site at your premises, allowing operators to train on the exact equipment they use while enabling our instructors to better understand your specific operation and safety requirements.
Our Training Centre provides fully equipped training facilities conveniently located just 20 minutes from Reading, Basingstoke, and Newbury. Often referred to as 'off-site training' – meaning training delivered away from the client’s premises – it is ideal for new operators without access to machinery, one-to-one instruction, or businesses lacking sufficient on-site space. As part of Budget Forktrucks, we offer access to a wide range of stock material handling equipment in a safe, professional, and controlled environment.
